Stories of the Moose
Moose Stuck In A Tree
Meowling from the tree tops, I attempt a daring ladder rescue of the Moose.
Moose liked hanging out in trees. I had a nice old tree next to my dorm where she'd hand out waiting for me to come back from wherever.
When I first moved onto campus, I lived in a similar dorm that had a huge pine tree out front. This is the dorm where I first met Moose. I was coming from evening classes (it was already getting dark) and I called out to Moose to let her know I'm home. I hear the Moose, but can't seem to locate her. I keep calling out, and getting plenty of responses from the Moose, but no Moose to be seen anywhere.
"No, it can't be coming from up in the tree," I thought to myself. Sure enough, there's the Moose way up in the tree tops, clinging to a branch. I see cat butt, then a tail, then a face, and then hear Moose's distinctive yowl. Oh great. How am I going to get you down now?
I wasn't about to call the police or the fire department, so I snuck into the Commons building to "borrow" a ladder. Luckily, it was undergoing some renovations and the contractors just left their equipment behind for the night.
I found a tall ladder and make my way back over to the tree. I was certain I was going to get stopped by the cops, but hey, I'm soon to be a hero and I can get away with sort of thing. I get back to the tree, where a few people had gathered to see what the all the yowling was about.
The details of that day all those years ago have eluded me, and I can't remember how Moose got down, but I'm sure that I didn't get to play the hero. I'm pretty sure the onlookers told me that she got out of the tree on her own. Not sure if she jumped or climbed down.
At any rate, never again did I see the Moose climb any tree/countertop/etc. more than a few feet off the ground.
